Register for the eventPublic Education Outreach and Participation funding was recently expanded by Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) to include a “Statewide Initiatives” category. In creating the Statewide Initiatives category, the Water Plan serves as the main driver of the priorities noted in the PEPO Grant Criteria and Guidelines. Because the Water Plan outlines broad priorities, the PEPO workgroup along with CWCB have together outlined funding priorities for the Statewide Initiatives fund to help spur applicant ideas and guide program development.
See the list of CWCB & PEPO Priorities for Statewide Initiatives CWCB PEPO Grant Program Criteria and GuidelinesTwenty-nine projects distributed across the state have been selected to receive financial and technical support with funding CAWA obtained from the Colorado Water Conservation Board and private donors. The drought resilience program was designed to provide seed funding to support early-stage projects with the potential to reduce water use, improve water management, and/or demonstrate drought resilience and adaptation. The end-goal is to identify projects that can be scaled up to a level that can keep Colorado agriculture as healthy and productive as possible under the hotter, drier conditions that have become more common.

Colorado Water Funding Opportunity NavigatorSTRATEGIES FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE BASIN WATER NEEDS
The Yampa White Green Basin Roundtable (YWG BRT) process offers local communities the opportunity to have a strong voice in how water will be managed now and in the future. This unique grassroots process does not exist in other states where water planning is more commonly conducted at the state agency level.

Registration for event
The Governor announced this event at Colorado Water Congress and we have been busy putting together a plan. It has been over a decade since the last Drought Summit CWCB hosted in 2012. This event will focus on climate data, drought lessons learned and projects that are working to mitigate the impacts of drought and implement the Colorado Water Plan. The two-day event will be held on May 31 and June 1 at History Colorado in Denver.

WECO Annual River Basin Tour InformationThe last C-9 summit was held in 2019. In keeping with actions in the Water Plan (e.g. Action 4.2) to support the impact of roundtables and to create greater alignment between the Board, IBCC and roundtables, the 2023 C-9 Summit will serve to support cross-basin collaboration. At the February IBCC meeting, the IBCC PEPO working group (thanks to Lisa Darling and Ken Brenner) agreed to help draft a roundtable-informed agenda.
