Grant Application Guidelines

 

The YWG BRT grant program has three designated award periods contingent upon available funding. All grant criteria is designated by the request amount of under or over $10,000. Please review the requirements and goals of the program to determine the appropriate application level for your request. These grants will be awarded in November, February and April depending on available funds.

Requirements 

1.  Applicant must meet all the WSRF grant requirements set by the CWCB, able to contract with the State of Colorado and meet insurance requirements

2.  Matching Fund as set by the CWCB

  • Basin fund only a 25% match from either cash or in-kind services or in-kind material contributions
  • State wide fund request requires a 50% match. This match will be made up of 10% from the YWG RT WSRF account, 10% from applicant or third party in any combination of cash, in-kind services, or in-kin materials. The remaining 30% match may be provided from any other source, including cash from Basin Account, or any combination of cash, in-kind services, or in-kind materials

3.  Meet one or more of the Yampa-White-Green Basin Implementation Plan (BIP) goals or for state fund request meet one or more of the Colorado Water Plan goals

Application Deadlines

  • All completed applications will be submitted to the Basin Roundtable
  • For a November award decision, the application is due the second last Wednesday of September
  • For a March award decision, the application is due the second last Wednesday of January
  • For an May award decision, the application is due the second last Wednesday of March

Application Steps

Discovery Phase

OVER $10K GRANT APPLICANTS:

Step 1: APPLICATION

Fill out the YWG RT Application and the CWCB application including Exhibit A and Exhibit B Budget Schedule

Step 2: Present at the RT Grant Meeting

  • A presentation about the project will be given to the grant committee
  • The applicant will have two weeks to answer any questions that could not be answered at the grant meeting

Step 3: Present a short three slide presentation to the full RT

The RT will vote to award or not to award the grant request

Step 4: Colorado Water Conservation Board

Submit the full CWCB application to the CWCB

Step 5: Present to the CWCB board

The CWCB board will vote yes or no on the grant request

Step 6: Contract with the State after the CWCB grant award

  • Contracting can take 45 to 90 days
  • The applicant will not be reimbursed for funds spent before they have a complete contract and notice to proceed

UNDER $10K GRANT APPLICANTS:

Step 1: APPLICATION

Fill out the YWG RT Application

Step 2: Present at the RT Grant Meeting

  • A presentation about the project will be given to the grant committee
  • The applicant will have two weeks to answer any questions that could not be answered at the grant meeting

Step 3: Present a short three slide presentation to the full RT

The RT will vote to award or not to award the grant request

Step 4: Colorado Water Conservation Board

  • Fill out the full CWCB application including Exhibit A and Exhibit B. The applicant will work with CWCB to meet a desired CWCB board meeting
  • The applicant must ensure that the Roundtable Chair submits a letter of recommendation to the CWCB

Step 5: Present to the CWCB board

The CWCB board will vote yes or no on the grant request

Step 6: Contract with the State after the CWCB grant award

  • Contracting can take 45 to 90 days
  • The applicant will not be reimbursed for funds spent before they have a complete contract and notice to proceed

Reporting and Completion

The CWCB requires a six-month progress report and a final report at the completion of the project

  • The applicant will be responsible to meet all the CWCB requirements
  • A final report/presentation will be provided to the YWG RT
  • The applicant is responsible to update the RT if the projects change during implementation, requesting time on the RT agenda, and preparing reports and presentation to the RT
