This Project is to install a stage sensor and telemetry to monitor Fortification Creek. In the 1980’s, the
City of Craig transferred senior water rights from Craig Irrigation Ditch (1.33 cfs) and Fortification
Creek Irrigation Ditch (7 cfs) to the City’s water treatment plant for municipal supply. As part of the
decrees, the City of Craig can divert these water rights when sufficient physical water is flowing past
the Craig Irrigation Ditch headgate. There are no measurement devices on Fortification Creek. The City
of Craig will install a stage sensor that will allow them to determine if the flows in Fortification Creek
have fallen below ~10 cfs. The telemetry will connect with the City’s existing SCADA system to allow
for real-time monitoring. At this time, the City does not contemplate a full streamflow gage. In the
future, the equipment could be used to support a gage.
