The project is to construct a downstream blanket drain on and below the left abutment to provide a filtered exit for seepage and natural flows. State-wide WSRF funds will be used for the actual construction of the drain. A combination of Yampa/White/Green Roundtable and matching funds will be used for the accompanying design, specifications, construction support and project management.
The primary objective is to enhance the safety of the dam by controlling and channeling the seepage through and/or around the left abutment plus any naturally occurring flows from the adjacent hillside to a filtered exit to mitigate impacts to the dam structure and nearby outlet conduit.
Another objective is to work toward removal of the storage restriction that was placed on the dam in 2019 due to concerns around the above seepage issues.
