Phase 3 of the White River Integrated Water Initiative (Initiative) is a continuation of the ongoing
planning process while implementing the identified priority projects/studies to help inform future
management activities.
The funds from this grant request will provide coordination and facilitation of the priority projects to
continue with the locally led efforts of the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC). The coordinator will
continue to coordinate and facilitate PAC and public meetings while ensuring the implementation of
the top four prioritized activities identified in Phase 2. Those activities include the water supply study,
ditch diversion and riparian assessments, upland vegetation management, and water measuring
device demonstration project.
Funding from this request will also be used to collect quality data in the middle reach of the White
River to provide the needed information for the development and application of a hydrologic model
for the White River water supply study. This data will be collected through measuring the stream
discharge at the upper end of the middle reach, the tributary contributions, the ditch diversions, the
groundwater head at wells with data loggers, and groundwater return flow rates to the White River.
(see Task 1 in WSRF Exhibit A Statement of Work)
The funding will also be used for the coordination of additional diversion structure and riparian health
assessments which have been requested by landowners and water right holders. These assessments
will be used by landowners and water right holders to help identify improvements to the river and
riparian areas as well as improvements for irrigation.
